Introduction
spacer
Three years ago a planning meeting was held where over 100 parents discussed how they would like to see their club develop in the future. The consensus was for more pool time and quality coaches for our swimmers.
spacer
This wish has now come to fruition with a new squad restructure and more pool time for most of our squads. Several of our coaches have also completed coaching courses showing a committment to the club and more importantly their squad swimmers.
spacer
Scottish Swimming have proposed that all swimming clubs should have a progressive pathway for all swimmers going from the Learn To Swim programme (pre club entry) and continuing throughout to ultimately the Training To Win level (Top Squad). This restructure has been a long time coming and our thanks must go to the SAS Head Coach, Gary Paterson, who has been instrumental in preparing a comprehensive training outline for all the squads throughout SAS.

To ensure continuity throughout all the SAS clubs and ensure that all the swimmers are following the same coaching structure it was agreed to rename all the SAS clubs under the same banner. Therefore Westhill District ASC squads have been renamed as follows:
  • South Aberdeenshire Platinum Westhill
  • South Aberdeenshire Gold Westhill
  • South Aberdeenshire Silver Westhill
  • South Aberdeenshire Bronze Westhill
  • South Aberdeenshire Entry Westhill

Westhill also introduced a Masters Squad in 2012. This squad trains on Tuesdays and Sundays and is intended as a sideways movement for those older swimmers who still wish to train but not compete. The Masters Squad is also a requirement of the SwiMark Plus application criteria.
